Rule book revision schedule - how do you do it?

Technical Questions

Now I'm in training, the amount of rules to learn is overwhelming. I'm trying to figure out a good revision schedule.

For those who've been through it, how did you structure your learning? Did you focus on one section at a time or try to cover a bit of everything?

I spent about 2 hours every evening on rule book. Focus on one section per week and really nail it before moving on.

Flashcards were my saviour! I made cards for all the key rules and tested myself constantly.

@guardtodriver - focus on safety-critical rules first. Signs, signals, warnings. That's what they really care about.

I did little and often - 30 mins in the morning, 30 mins at lunch, 1 hour evening. Worked better than long sessions.

The red pages! Learn the red pages inside out. That's my top tip.

Don't try to memorise everything at once. You'll use the rule book daily as a driver - knowing WHERE to find things is as important as knowing WHAT they are.

I made a study group with others from my course. We'd quiz each other. Helped motivation massively.

I found recording myself reading rules and listening on repeat helped. Audio learner!

Spaced repetition is key. Review yesterday's rules before starting new ones. Cements it in your memory.

Good luck! You'll get there. Everyone finds it overwhelming at first.

Keep at it. The rule book will become your best friend (and sometimes your enemy!) 📖
