In my previous role, I noticed our team was spending several hours each week manually entering the same data into two separate systems because they did not integrate with each other. This duplication was not only time-consuming but also prone to transcription errors.

I needed to find a way to streamline or eliminate the duplicate data entry while staying within the constraints of our existing systems and without disrupting ongoing operations.

I researched whether either system had an import or export function we were not using. I discovered that one system could produce CSV reports and the other could accept CSV imports. I created a step-by-step guide showing how to export, format, and import the data in minutes rather than hours. I presented the idea to my manager with a time comparison, got approval, and trained the team on the new process.

The new method saved each team member roughly four hours per week and reduced data entry errors by a significant margin. My manager was impressed that the solution required no budget, just initiative. The process I created was still being used eighteen months later when I left the role.
