Where do you see yourself in 5 years in this role?

When I think about my long-term career, I am not looking to use train driving as a stepping stone. I see it as a career I want to build and grow within over many years.

I want to be clear about my genuine commitment to this role while also showing that I am ambitious about developing my skills and contributing to the organisation.

My primary focus for the first several years would be on becoming the safest, most competent driver I can be. Once I had built that foundation, I would be interested in mentoring newer drivers, perhaps becoming a driver trainer or standards assessor if the opportunity arose. I would also welcome any chance to contribute to safety improvement initiatives.

By focusing on mastering the fundamentals first and then looking for ways to share that experience, I believe I would become a valuable long-term member of any team. I am motivated by doing a job well, not by chasing the next promotion, and I think that mindset aligns well with the culture of the railway industry.
